Team tournaments
In a teams tournament you play as a team of two pairs against other teams. The two pairs of a team play the same boards at different tables; the difference in result is scored in IMPs.
Registering as a team
In a teams tournament you register as a team of two pairs. One player is the captain: they play themselves, register the team and enter the three team-mates. The team decides who the captain is.
Accepting the invitation
Each team-mate gets an invitation. The registration is only complete once everyone has accepted it.
Missed the invitation? Go to the tournament lobby again; the invitation then appears again.
Team table
Ten minutes before the start, StepBridge seats fully registered teams at their own team table. There you can talk things over with your team and choose your convention card.
After the match your team comes back together at the team table, so you can talk about the boards.
Messages in the lobby can't be seen there, so important announcements from the tournament director reach you as a broadcast.
Open and closed table
In each round your team plays against one other team, at two tables with the same number: an open and a closed table. The two pairs of a team sit in opposite directions.
The name closed table doesn't automatically mean that spectators are not welcome. The tournament settings decide whether spectators can watch there.
Two halves
Some teams tournaments are played in two halves. Each round then consists of two halves. After the first half you play against the other pair of the team you are meeting that round.
Each half has its own round clock, so the time available for a round is split over both halves. During the second half you can also see the IMP score of the first half.
